BACB Office Building
The Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(2) corporation established to meet the professional credentialing needs identified by behavior analysts, governments, and consumers of behavior analysis services. In need of a new national headquarters, the BACB chose a Littleton site with both incredible views of the Hogback Mountains and proximity to the C-470 highway.
This new 24,000 square foot office space is comprised of 3 levels, each with a different focus. The main level serves the lobby space, a call center and a fitness center for BACB employees. The second level provides office space for the majority of the staff, with floor to ceiling windows at the exterior and interior glass partitions that set a contemporary tone to the space while providing a feeling of both openness and adequate privacy to protect the confidentiality of the employee’s work. Conference rooms act as hubs on either end, with a collaboration space embedded into the program. The third level Training and Conference center allows the facility to conduct their training sessions and meetings with an incredible backdrop, opening onto the roof terrace and seamless views through the use of folding glass walls. This space is further enhanced by its capability to be divided and used as needed through the use of an operable partition, making it a truly flexible all-purpose space.
The exterior of the BACB building features a ribbon of floor-to-ceiling windows wrapping the entire second level, utilizing a low-e insulating glass to promote energy efficiency. A sandstone veneer on the first level evokes the colors of the red dirt in the nearby hills, while mimicking the tones of the copper cladding on floors above, establishing a contrast of raw vs. finished materials.
The fitness center, bike storage and locker rooms, a walking path along the perimeter of the site and a rooftop terrace were purposely chosen amenities by the BACB to both promote a healthy lifestyle and to create a great working environment for their employees, all while taking advantage of all the natural amenities their site has to offer.
